"She commanded herself to shut up. To stop overthinking things. To go outside and look at the stars. See? Look how big the universe is. How small you are in comparison. You're just a blip on the radar of the universe, and that's not a bad thing. It's wonderful. It's liberating."
- This Life Undone
Valentine's Day has me thinking about a lot of things this week, including the hubs, and how to focus on what really matters while letting go of what doesn't.
A friend once said to me, having a partner isn't just about loving someone. It's about being there to bear witness to someone else's life. That's profound. And it's true. For the most part, our thoughts and feelings and day-to-day happenings go unnoticed by others. We are all extras in the background of other people's lives. Having someone there by your side, however, brings us sharply into focus. It makes life meaningful.
With Valentine's Day right around the corner, it's the perfect time to honor that! You guys know that I Rarely (capital-R rarely) make sweets, but of course I couldn't resist. And what better way to celebrate than with my favorite buttery thumbprint cookies!?
This is the best recipe for these cookies. They're super light and super buttery and extra good. Mike even brought the leftovers to his coworkers, and they all agreed. I hope you guys have a fantastic Valentine's Day!
